Bike Tour 1 :

Up and Down, and Again

One of the finest short bike tours in the region, combining great climbs and stunning views.

The Climbs

  • 2.7 km (5%)

  • 2.8 km (5.5%)

  • 1 km (5%, max 9%)

  • 2.2 km (6%)

  • Distance: 48 km

  • Ascent: 580 m

The one

Our favorite short climb in the region. Although only 2 km long, the climb has it all: the smell of pine trees, nice views, very narrow road, great surface, and a difficult to define “Mediterranean” atmosphere.

The views

Great views of the plains around, the Cévennes mountains (often snow capped in the winter), and even the Mediterranean sea and the Mt Ventoux in case of very clear weather.

  • If you are looking for a short, compact, superb bike tour.

  • Very nice, relatively short climbs with some nice hairpin turns.

  • Pretty rock formations, including a high-level climbing site visited by legend Lynn Hill.

  • Great views of the surrounding plains and mountains.

  • Admire the outside of some small 11th and 12th century churches on your way.

  • One of the cutest and smallest markets (Sunday morning) in the region.

  • Including two short marvelous hikes:

    • Hike 1: A 4 km return trip (2 km x 2, 70 m ascent) with stunning 360° views on the top.

    • Hike 2: A 2 km return trip (1 km x 2, 100 m ascent) to the amazing ruins of a medieval castle with beautiful views on the Pic St-Loup in front and the Cévennes mountains on the other side.
