The views

This tour will offer you -almost all the way- great views on the surrounding mountains (including the emblematic Cévennes summits of the Mt Aigoual 1567 m and the Mt Lozere 1699 m), plateaus, and valleys.

Limestone plateau

Ride through one of the most photogenic places of the Cévennes: a vast limestone plateau at an altitude of 1000 m filled with beautiful rock formations, plains, menhirs, and views on the surrounding Cévennes summits.

  • A long tour, with quiet a lot of climbing.

  • Climbs are relatively smooth and rolling.

  • Enjoy the full panel of the Cévennes experience:

    • Remote medieval villages. Life is tough here, especially in winter.

    • Rolling climbs and nice descents with great surface, alternating with small roads with bad surface leading you through some kind of lost remote valleys.

    • Small medieval stone bridges.

    • Beautiful rock formations.

    • Admire the menhirs, approximately 2000 to 3000 years old, just next to the road.

  • Including two hikes exploring in more detail this special place:

    • Hike 1: A 3 km (90 m ascent) emblematic hike above a medieval village offering you massive views on the south part of the Cévennes mountains.

    • Hike 2: A 9 km (140 m ascent) hike exploring the beautiful limestone plateau.
